Brag Enterprises Ltd

ALBA Employability Courses - offer individuals assistance to brush up on employability skills such as updating cv, interview techniques, job searching skills, team work and confidence building and also the potential of a work placement. These courses run in Methil and Kirkcaldy. For further details please contact Leanne on 01592 862303.

Self-Directed Business Support - As an organisation BRAG is able to offer self-directed business support through our Social Enterprise team. For further details please contact 01592 860296 and ask for the Social Enterprise team.


Clued Up

Cook - Designed to support participants in developing their knowledge of food and nutrition. Young people will have the opportunity to plan and prepare lunch for their peers, learn how to cook on a budget and eat healthily. This operates as a drop-in service, every Wednesday, from 12.00pm - 4.00pm at The Bunker, Kirkcaldy.

Educate - This takes place with an Adult Basic Education tutor in Clued Up's premises. These sessions offer young people the opportunity to brush up on, or gain, certification up to Intermediate 1 in literacy and numeracy in a relaxed environment. The tutor can tailor materials to suit an individual's interests and employability needs. This operates as a drop-in service, every Monday, from 12.00pm - 4.00pm at The Bunker, Kirkcaldy.

Excel - Sessions and workshops are designed around young people's needs. This includes goal setting and action planning; dealing with interviews; CV and application writing; benefits information; visits from mainstream and other organisations that can offer specific input focusing on possible progression opportunities. This operates as a drop-in service in 3 locations:-

  • The Bunker, Kirkcaldy. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, from 12.00pm - 4.00pm
  • Greig Institute, Leven. Tuesdays & Thursdays, from 12.00pm - 4.00pm
  • The Tower House Community Centre, Dunfermline. Fridays from 1.00pm - 3.00pm

One-to-One Support - Clued Up offer one-to-one support sessions and can meet young people at a time and place that suits them.

Group Work - Clued Up run various group work programmes throughout the year focussing on topics such as self esteem, relationships and outdoor education. We also organise community football games with the community team at Kirkcaldy police station.


FEAT

Living Life to the Full - This 8wk course is delivered by FEAT and is designed to develop confidence, self-esteem, emotional intelligence and problem-solving. The course will introduce clients to a number of tools and techniques that will enable them to recognise and intervene in unhelpful thoughts, emotions, physical feelings and behaviours. This course is aimed primarily at clients with mental health issues.

Mental Health Awareness - 2 half days or 1 full day of mental health awareness training delivered by FEAT. (Course availability by arrangement)

Mentor Training - FEAT's course aimed to prepare clients for volunteering within the organisation in peer support roles. (Course availability by arrangement)

Mindfulness - Mindfulness is an 8 week course designed to help people begin to develop a practise where clients can become aware of the patterns of thought, emotions, sensations and activities that drive their lives. Rather than habitual reaction, developing mindful awareness can introduce choice about how to engage with ourself, our behaviour and with others.

Mindfulness half day taster session - FEAT's taster session gives you the opportunity to experience mindfulness before committing to an 8wk course. (Course availability by arrangement) This course is aimed primarily at clients with mental health issues.

STARS (Set Targets and Reach Success) - This 6wk course is delivered by FEAT and is designed to help you clarify your goals and progress towards them. The course also covers strategies to help overcome some of the challenges associated with moving towards personal goals such as managing nerves, stepping out of your comfort zone, the role of courage in personal development and the need to identify and play to your unique personal strengths.


Fife Voluntary Action

Venture into Volunteering - Provided by Fife Voluntary Action, Venture into Volunteering is a short, interactive session which promotes the benefits of volunteering. Venture into Volunteering can be delivered to small and large groups and includes information on the following:-

  • Expectations
  • Examples of opportunities
  • The benefits of volunteering
  • Myth busting around volunteering while claiming benefits
  • How to become a volunteer

Fife Works

Client Specific Training Courses/Certification - Fife Works can assist with supporting clients to obtain training/certification specific to their requirements. Some examples are:- Emergency First Aid, HSE First Aid at Work, Forklift License, Food Hygiene, Health and Safety (NEBOSH/IOSH), Construction Safety Certification Scheme (CSCS test and card), PA1/PA6 Spraying Certificates, Security Industry Association License (SIA), Asbestos Awareness Training, Personal Bar License, HGV/PCV Licenses.

Job Search Workshops - Fife Works offer half day job search workshops covering CV refreshers, interview techniques and mock interviews, and application forms. These are aimed at clients who are nearly job ready, and will be run on a demand led basis, fortnightly, in various locations across Fife.

Pre-recruitment Training - Fife Works run a range of industry specific pre-recruitment training courses - designed to meet the needs of recruiting employers. These short courses offer practical work experience, certificated training along with enhanced employability skills, ensuring clients leave the programme with the skills to gain employment in their chosen sector. Pre-recruitment courses currently delivered in the following sectors:- Construction; Hospitality; Rural/Land based; Care.

Pre Recruitment Training - Care. Care work is the fourth biggest employment sector in Fife and Fife Works offer a 4 week pre-recruitment care training course, giving the opportunity to gain the following:-

  • How do I get into the Care industry? - practical help on finding work in the Care sector
  • Sector based accredited training - Level 2 Emergency First Aid at Work, Moving and Handling Accreditation, Elementary Food Hygiene
  • Work Experience Placements - placements within support work, childcare, home care and care homes
  • Employability Skills - assistance to update your CV to reflect the skills, experience and qualifications gained through pre-recruitment training. Mock interviews, application assistance and letter writing
  • Ongoing Individual Support - individual support to help you market your new skills and training to employers and help you find work

Pre Recruitment Training - Construction. Construction is a major employment sector within Fife and can give you skills to build a career. On the 4 week construction pre-recruitment training, you will be given the opportunity to gain the following:-

  • How do I get into the construction industry? - practical help on finding work in construction
  • Practical Training - CSCS Health & Safety Training and Test (card) and Asbestos Awareness
  • Industry recognised aptitude training - undertake the CITB Selection and Learning Exercise and speak to CITB Apprenticeship Officers
  • Work Experience Placements - help to access practical work experience within live construction sites or workplaces
  • Employability skills - assistance to update your CV to reflect the skills, experience and qualifications gained through pre-recruitment training. Mock interviews, application assistance and letter writing
  • Ongoing Individual Support - individual support to help you market your new skills and training to employers and help you find work

Pre Recruitment Training - Hospitality. Hospitality has been identified as one of the fastest growing industries in Fife. On the 4 week hospitality pre-recruitment training you will be given the opportunity to gain the following:-

  • How do I get into the Hospitality industry? - practical help on finding work in hospitality
  • Accredited Training - Bar license accreditation, Level 2 Emergency First Aid at Work, Customer Service training
  • Work Experience Placements - placements within the hospitality industry to suit your requirements and training needs
  • Employability Skills - assistance to update your CV to reflect the skills, experience and qualifications gained through pre-recruitment training. Mock interviews, application assistance and letter writing
  • Ongoing Individual Support - individual support to help you market your new skills and training to employers and help you find work

Pre Recruitment Training - Rural Skills. Employment in the Rural Skills and Land based sector is on the increase and include Horticulture, Land Management, Farming, Conservation and Forestry. On the 4 week Rural Skills pre-recruitment training, you will be given the opportunity to gain the following:-

  • How do I get into the Rural / Land based Sector? - practical help on finding work in Rural Skills
  • Practical Training - First Aid, Tree Planting, Hedge Laying, Management of paths and boundaries, Dry Stone Dykes, Land Management
  • Work Experience Placements - help to access practical work experience within the rural skills sector
  • Employability Skills - assistance to update your CV to reflect the skills, experience and qualifications gained through pre-recruitment training. Mock interviews, application assistance and letter writing
  • Ongoing Individual Support - individual support to help you market your new skills and training to employers and help you find work

West Fife Enterprise Ltd

A weekly training allowance and assistance with travel costs are on offer for the following Employability Academy courses:-

Woodwork (full-time only) - working towards an SVQ Level 1 in Performing Engineering Operations working with wood. Learn woodwork skills and how to use power and hand tools. Includes a work experience placement.

IT Course (full-time only) - An IT course where you can gain an ECDL, PC Passport, Finance qualifications etc. Includes a work experience placement.

Find a Job, Keep a Job (full-time only) - Help to sell yourself to an employer. Workshops in CV writing, cover letters and application forms, interview techniques and include a work experience placement.

Step Up To Work, Glenrothes (part-time) - This course is held in our Unit at 7 Lyons Square, Kingdom Shopping Centre in Glenrothes, 3 days per week over 8 weeks and is aimed at anyone 16-64yrs wishing to brush up on their self-marketing skills. The course includes an employability qualification, CV workshops, interview skills and techniques, work experience placement, and job search.

Step Up To Work, Newmills (part-time) - This course is held in our Newmills centre, 2 days per week over 8 weeks and is aimed at anyone 16-64yrs wishing to brush up on their self-marketing skills. The course includes an employability qualification, CV workshops, interviews skills and techniques, work experience placement, and job search.
